Mexico took an important step towards the consolidation of its leadership in technological innovation at the regional level with the realization of the Switzerland & Mexico Startup and Innovation Exchange 2025a binational meeting that brought together Swiss startups and key actors of the Mexican ecosystem in order to boost the transfer of technology, investment and strategic collaboration in key sectors.

Organized by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland and the University of St. Gallen, the event marked a week of intense activities where entrepreneurs, universities, authorities and companies spoke about opportunities and challenges to strengthen an agile and modern regulatory framework that favors innovation.

During the Opening Day, entitled “Competitiveness from innovation: bond and business dialogue with economics”high -level representatives such as Soledad Guadalupe López Acosta, head of the Administration and Finance Unit participated; Marco Moreno Ibarra, Director of Technological Transfer and Innovation; Rocío Robinson, from the University of St. Gallen; the Swiss ambassador to Mexico, Pietro Piffarretti; In addition to business leaders and legislators.

The event included four thematic panels that addressed from innovation models applied in sectors such as Edtech, Agroindustry and Health, to Swiss disruptive proposals in artificial intelligence, robotics and sustainability. Success cases were also shared in pharmaceutical, construction and food, and strategies were discussed to connect startups with financing mechanisms focused on scalability, sustainability and binational cooperation.

During the closure, Andrea Genoveva Solano Rendón, on behalf of the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, stressed that “when we bet on innovation as a public policy axis, we not only transform sectors, we also open concrete possibilities for the well -being of our societies.”

Solano Rendón added that this initiative is not a closure, but the beginning of a binational platform with long -term vision based on trust, talent and political will to use innovation as a lever for a more fair, dynamic and sustainable economic model.

This effort reinforces the positioning of Mexico as a strategic node of innovation in the region and consolidates a favorable environment to attract talent, capital and ideas that promote the sustainable development of the country.

The meeting also had the participation of officials such as Javier Dávila Torres, responsible for the pharmaceutical sector; Diego Eduardo Flores, director of Technology and Digital Industry; Rosaura Ruiz, Secretary of Science, Humanities and Technology, and Manola Zabalza, Secretary of Economic Development of Mexico City.
