The Mexican economy is directed to the zero growth in 2025 after projecting a rate of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 0.1 percent, the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF) warned.

“In June, 72 percent of the participants (economists) maintained their estimate, placing the median (of real GDP growth for this year) again at 0.1 percent,” according to the Survey of the National Committee of Economic Studies of the IMEF.

The agency added that the estimation of real GDP growth by 2025 remains for the second consecutive month at that level.

The most optimistic economic growth forecast is 0.7 percent, while the most pessimistic is at a fall of 0.5 percent, according to the survey carried out each month among the members of IMEF over the main macroeconomic variables.

The survey, which includes the expectations of 43 economists with extensive experience and recognized prestige, predicted an inflation rate by 2025 of 4.0 percent.

He recalled that 49 percent of participants increased their prior estimate of inflation.

“The most optimistic expectation places inflation by 3.4 percent, while the most pessimistic places it at an annual rate of 4.9 percent,” he said.

The IMEF explained that the employment forecast by 2025 is reduced to 190 thousand insured workers in the IMSS, after projecting 200 thousand in May.

The expected exchange rate for the end of 2025, he said, is located this June at 20.45 pesos per dollar, a lower figure as estimated in May (20.80 pesos per dollar).

The expectation of the traditional public balance as a proportion of GDP for this year is located
For the fifth consecutive month at -4.0 percent, he added.

IMEF mentioned that the estimation of the monetary policy rate for the closure of 2025 is reduced to 7.50 percent, after the projection of 7.75 percent estimated in May.

The current account as a proportion of GDP is located at -0.8 percent, the IMEF explained.
