Before the Group of Twenty (G20), Mexico committed to promoting an industrial policy with a gender and inclusion perspective, which will aim to achieve sustainable, diversified and inclusive economic growth, and contemplates the creation of a care system, reported the Ministry of Economy.

At the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers Meeting in Brasilia, Brazil, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce Vidal Llerenas said the secretariat will focus on boosting the training of women in key sectors and skills.

Likewise, the agency will incorporate care policies from the industrial and business sectors to consolidate the National Care System and will promote territorial planning with a gender perspective in the Wellbeing Corridors that guarantees family conciliation for workers who have care responsibilities.

Regarding the development and strengthening of the Wellbeing Corridors, coordination between levels of government and institutions will be promoted, to consider the comprehensive planning of the territory with a gender perspective, which includes elements such as housing, and urban transportation, with the purpose of bringing care systems closer to workers, which will promote, in particular, the economic empowerment of women.

In terms of training, actions will be promoted to strengthen technical training, training and support of companies for the recruitment of women in historically masculinized sectors.

Examples of these sectors include manufacturing, steel, metallurgical, automotive, naval, aeronautical, electrical manufacturing, electronic manufacturing, manufacturing of metal products, machinery and equipment, transportation, construction, mining, metal-based products. non-metallic minerals such as glass, ceramics and cement, agriculture, energy industries (electricity, gas, oil, water and renewable energy), commerce, financial and insurance services, as well as circular economy and digital platform companies.

Likewise, we will seek to promote the development in women of interpersonal skills such as leadership or negotiation, in order to guarantee the inclusion of women in the decision-making positions of companies, their boards of directors and the business chambers that They represent them.

At the same time, the agency will seek to coordinate with the Women’s Secretariat and the Labor and Social Welfare Secretariat to generate an agreement on care within companies.

In addition, it will promote the integration of care policies and infrastructure, mainly for early childhood, as a child care and development center, from the private industrial and commercial sector. It will also seek, in coordination with these secretariats, to expand paternity leave to promote the redistribution of care work.
