El Gobierno de México, mediante un comunicado de la Cancillería, aseguró este viernes que “no aceptará la participación de fuerzas militares de Estados Unidos en su territorio”, después de que el presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, defendió enviar tropas contra los carteles del narcotráfico en América Latina para “proteger” a su país, una maniobra que supondría ir un paso más allá en un guerra contra el fentanilo.
While the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, issued another statement later in which he said “working collaboratively with the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum to confront this threat with the seriousness it demands.”
Johnson said that “it is not about the United States to act alone. It is about building a joint front and unwavering with Mexico to defend our citizens, dismantle cartels networks and ensure that the only people who must fear for their future are those who profit with murder, addiction and chaos.”
In relation to that statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE, Foreign Ministry) of Mexico said that both countries “agree that the collaboration between our countries occurs with unrestricted respect to our sovereignty.”
And that “everyone must work in their country, to address the causes caused by addictions and violence derived from illegal drug and weapons traffic.”
In addition, said that cooperation between both nations “is based on the principles of mutual trust, shared responsibility, sovereign equality, respect for territorial integrity and cooperation without subordination”

Mexico says that it will not accept the participation of US military forces in its territory
The SRE explained that Mexico has a national security strategy to build peace with justice, based on the attention to the structural causes that favor violence and advance in that there is zero impunity.
”Mexico will continue to work in a coordinated manner with the United States. In particular, in the fight against illicit drugs and weapons, which is essential to reduce violence (…) For months, we work in a security agreement on those principles: collaboration and respect for sovereignty,” he added.
And he closed saying that “Mexico would not accept the participation of US military forces in our territory.”
Meanwhile, Johnson recalled that Trump and the leaders of his government agree that “these organizations are not only drug traffickers. They are terrorists who destroy lives, corrupt institutions and maintain as hostages of fear of entire communities.”
“We will use all the tools at our disposal to protect our peoples, working collaboratively, such as two sovereign allies (…) Our border cooperation will continue with regard to all aspects of safety, including drugs, drug distribution and illegal immigration to the United States,” Johnson closed.
This Friday at her everyday conference, President Sheinbaum said that the US is not going to “invade” Mexican territory with military, after the New York Times advanced that Trump would sign a secret order by instructing the pentagon to use the military force against the narco posters in Latin America.
From his return to the White House, the president seeks to fight against the traffic of fentanyl in the US, which, in his opinion, is mainly produced by Mexican posters with Chinese products.
In response to the impact of this drug in his country, which causes a large number of deaths, the American designated in February as terrorists the six main Mexican posters: the Sinaloa poster, the Jalisco Nueva Generación poster (CJNG), the Northeast poster, the Gulf Cartel, United Cartles and the new Mexican family.
