Mexico will host the InnovaFest Latam, an event that will bring together six celebrations, including the Ministerial Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean, to which all countries in the region have confirmed their attendance during December 4 and 5 in Morelos.

The meeting will aim to strengthen cooperation in science, technology and innovation with a focus on public policies, as well as facilitate coordination between governments and academia, and promote the resolution of common challenges in the region.

This event will bring together 30 countries and the 45 rectors of Mexican universities to unite administrations, private investment and academia.

The Secretary of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation, Rosaura Ruiz Gutiérrez, explained this Tuesday in a press conference that the event will have as its main topics climate change, energy transition, environmental sustainability, health and biotechnology, and the use of artificial intelligence applied to science.

“In Latin America we are trying to work together on artificial intelligence. Everything that has been done now is in English (…) that is why Chile and Mexico have met trying to see what we can do in our own language: Spanish,” Ruiz explained.

In addition to this meeting, the forum will hold five other events, including the STS Forum (Science and Technology in Society, Science and Technology in Society, in Spanish) that will seek to close gaps between the different countries on the continent and worldwide.

“About 1,500 people gather at this event and what makes the meeting relevant is that the scientific community brings together a large number of companies that care about innovation of all kinds,” said the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, at the conference.

On the other hand, a new edition of ‘Minds in Action’ and the ‘LATAM Innovation and Patents Exhibition’ will be held, in which 3,773 applications will seek to connect with investment funds that will allocate 800 million pesos (43.6 million dollars) to support these projects.

Likewise, on December 5, the 2025 Mexican Innovation Awards and the creators of the LATAM Future will be presented.

“The forum aims to analyze solutions and build proposals to face the great challenges that our society in the Latin American region has,” explained Margarita González, governor of the state of Morelos.

With this event, the state seeks to position itself “as a capital of scientific knowledge and scientific tourism.”
