Mexico will seek to boost ordered and regulated growth in the production, use, regulation and certification of biofuels with the support of Brazil.

Through the Ministry of Energy, the Government signed a collaboration instrument to take advantage of the experience of the South American country in the sustainable development of biofuels such as bioethanol, sustainable aviation fuels, biodiesel and maritime sustainable fuels.

This declaration of intention in bilateral cooperation was signed within the framework of the visit to Mexico of the Vice President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, the federal administration reported in a statement.

In the same act a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy and the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Export and Investment Attraction.

The signing of these cooperation instruments “will be reflected in new economic and investment opportunities, as well as in scientific, environmental and technological aspects, among others.”

The Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Raquel Serur Smeke, said that the relationship between Mexico and Brazil is of great relevance to the region, so these instruments are another step in strengthening the relationship and reflects the will of constructive cooperation and dialogue.

He stressed that the collaboration in biofuels is an advance to promote the exchange and transfer of technology, equipment, methodologies and experiences between Mexico and Brazil, in order to boost sustainable development and renewable energies.

He added that the memorandum of understanding between economy and Brazil will strengthen institutional capacities, as well as increase the competitiveness and international positioning of Mexican and Brazilian companies.
