Senator Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez decided to withdraw his request for affiliation to Morena by arguing that his intention was never to generate divisions within the party, but will remain as a member of the parliamentary group.
“The objective was to contribute, not to cause internal debate, much less division,” he presented in a letter to the national president of Morena, Luisa María Mayor.
He said she will continue to support President Claudia Sheinbaum and that she is convinced that in the crucial moments Mexico is experiencing, “we must all add our wills to face the challenges, which are huge.”
Yunes Márquez added that his original intention when requesting the registration in Morena was a logical consequence of his support for Sheinbaum and his participation in the legislative group of the party in the Senate.
“It was also an answer to the openness, solidarity and affectionate treatment that I have received from the president of Mexico and many of many and many MORENA militants, especially my partners and colleagues senators, headed by Adam Augusto López Hernández,” said this April first in the document.
