On Thursday, Donald Trump received Argentine President Javier Milei at his Mar-a-Lago club, who became the first foreign leader to meet with the president-elect of the United States, following his victory in last week’s elections.
The meeting was confirmed by a source to the AP agency who preferred to remain anonymous, since the meeting had not yet been publicly announced. According to the source, the meeting went positively and Milei also took advantage of the occasion to meet with investors.
Following her conversation with Trump, Milei — who calls herself an “anarcho-capitalist” and has received praise from Trump — participated in a gala organized by the America First Policy Institute at Mar-a-Lago. During his speech, the Argentine president criticized left-wing ideologies and expressed his admiration for Elon Musk, the owner of the social network X, which he described as a crucial platform to “save humanity.”
At the majestic Mar-a-Lago complex, Javier Milei met with Donald Trump as part of an informal dinner that brought together friends of the president-elect of the United States and future members of the Republican administration.
This meeting marked the first summit between both leaders after the presidential elections of November 5. Just two days before, Milei and Trump had had an 11-minute telephone conversation, during which they agreed to continue their talk in a more relaxed manner during the dinner organized by a Republican think tank.
After his meeting with Trump, Milei spoke with the vice president-elect of the United States, JD Vance. Shortly after, the Argentine president took the stage to deliver a five-minute speech, in which he shared his vision of the global situation and the world economy.
The speech attracted notable attention from those in attendance, and in the middle of his speech, Trump appeared and sat in the audience, paying attention to Milei’s words.
Milei congratulated Trump for defeating Kamala Harris in the recent election.
“I want to congratulate the president-elect for his resounding victory and for the greatest political comeback in history, facing the entire establishment and even putting his own life at risk. And thanks to this, today the world is much better because the winds of freedom are blowing, which are blowing much stronger. A true miracle and reliable proof that the forces of heaven are on our side,” he said according to American media.

Afterwards, Trump praised the Argentine for what he is doing at the head of his country.
