The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) modified the route of the traditional civic-military parade on November 20 and shortened its route due to the announcement of a new demonstration by the so-called Generation Z.
The traditional military parade commemorates the event that began the Mexican Revolution on November 20, 1910 and had as its starting point the capital’s Zócalo and ended at the Marte Military Field in the luxurious area of Polanco on Paseo de la Reforma avenue.
But on its networks, the Sedena showed a video in which it indicates that the military will advance from the Zócalo and even to the Monument to the Revolution, a distance of less than three kilometers.
The new route was announced after the self-proclaimed ‘Generation Z’ issued a call to march on November 20 at 11:00 a.m. in Mexico City, the same day and time that President Claudia Sheinbaum leads the parade where she reaffirms the importance of the Armed Forces in the country’s security.
“We are going to see how it develops in these days, we are not going to fall into provocations,” Sheinbaum responded in his press conference this Tuesday.

Just on Saturday, the march of the self-proclaimed ‘Generation Z’ left 20 civilians and 100 police officers injured, as well as around twenty people detained, after a confrontation that occurred between the authorities and a group of hooded people at the doors of the National Palace.
The Somos México formation, which seeks to become a political party and which recently participated in last Saturday’s march, asked to “act with prudence” in response to the call for a new march by the Generation Z collective for Thursday, November 20 and called to “avoid involving the Mexican Army in the protests.
“We would not want to involve the Army in a conflict of this size, of this difficulty, to put it in a characteristic of that nature. Prudently, I believe, they should not march towards where the Army is,” the formation indicated in a press conference.
