Three days after the brutal explosion of the gas pipe in Iztapalapa left 10 dead and almost 90 wounded, people have approached to help and highlight the work of the “heroines” and the “miracles” in the hospitals where the victims are recovered.
The woman’s daughter who protected her granddaughter during the explosion, Cynthia Yazmín Carrillo, explained to Efe this Friday that the health of the two -year -old girl, admitted to the 21st century National Medical Center Hospital, gradually improves despite the external and internal burns she suffers and forced him to be intervened on Thursday.
“He is reacting very well to yesterday’s operation. Right now he is sleeping and he will be 72 hours unconscious, they will continue to eat through the probe and thank God everything seems to go well,” Carrillo explained, affirming that he had received calls to displace his daughter for free to hospitals more specialized in Mexico and the United States.
On the other hand, his mother, who, due to an error of the Ministry of Health of Mexico City, was counted as a deceased, continues in a critical condition and without the possibility of being displaced to another more specialized hospital due to the seriousness of the injuries.
“I thank my mother very much for what my baby was saved. It was a heroine to do what he did,” he said in the hope that he improves the situation of his mother and daughter.
10 kilometers from the Medical Center, at the Magdalena de las Salinas hospital, Eduardo Romero Armas, 30 years old, is located with burns in 90% of his body, in addition to respiratory and renal problems caused by the explosion.

“Doctors say it is a miracle, but I do not believe in miracles. I believe in it,” said his brother David, who claimed to be “surprised” with all the help received by the government and the dozens of people who have disinterestedly moved to the exteriors of the hospitals to help.
Solidarity wave
Among that tide of solidarity was Raúl Hernández, which is part of a road group of motorists who have displaced dozens among injured, family and doctors from the health centers to different locations.
“After watching the videos of the people who were suffering the burns, how they complained and how they needed support to be able to move with all the traffic there, a car was not the best option, so we are looking for a way to transport people to a closer hospital, to emergencies or the relatives who wanted to move,” said Hernández, next to his motorcycle.
While this group makes guards in five other hospitals, dozens of volunteers distribute toilet paper, water, clothing or prepare sandwiches or cakes for people who are outside the hospital, such as Jorge, who moved from the city of Puebla, to make snacks and serve as a point of delivery of the materials that other people have donated to him.
“There are many people who have joined the cause of donating a grain of sand of the little or much they have towards people who need it. It is something very moving to see that when Mexico is in a critical situation, the country joins to help. Thus we are the Mexicans,” he said excitedly.
On Wednesday afternoon, a tank truck with a capacity of 49,500 liters overturned and exploded on the Ignacio Zaragoza road, at the height of the Concordia bridge, in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office.
