Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released a new batch of photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate on Thursday, ahead of the broader release of Epstein’s files, scheduled for the end of Friday.

Key data

House Democrats released 68 photos of Epstein’s estate, given to the committee as part of their broader investigation into Epstein and his alleged abuses.

The photos, all undated, show Epstein in various settings, along with images of passports, visas, architectural plans, a vial of phenazopyridine and images of anonymous women with quotes from Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita.”

Many also show high-profile associates known to have collaborated with the financier, such as photos of billionaire Bill Gates, filmmaker Woody Allen, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, philosopher Noam Chomsky and Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

Among others who appear in the photos is New York Times columnist David Brooks, who recently wrote a column denouncing the public’s obsession with Epstein’s files. The Times said in a statement Thursday that the photos were from a 2011 dinner that Brooks attended “to inform his columns” and that the writer “had no contact with (Epstein) before or after this single attendance at a large dinner.”

Some photos show figures, including Gates, alongside anonymous women, but none show wrongdoing by known friends of Epstein.

The excerpt also includes a screenshot of text messages from an unknown recipient, who said they were “sending you girls now” and asked if “maybe someone would be good for J.” He also mentions that a friend asks for “1,000 dollars per girl” and sends the information of an 18-year-old girl from Russia.

What to take into account

The photos come ahead of the release of broader government files on Epstein this week, as the Trump administration is required by federal law to release its files on Epstein by Friday.

These files are expected to shed more light on government investigations into Epstein and could include many of the financier’s high-profile friends, although many of Epstein’s known associates have never been charged with a crime.

The House Oversight Committee is also expected to continue releasing files related to Epstein as part of its investigation, including more photos and documents received from financial institutions that worked with Epstein.
