Morena’s coordinator in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, said he will present a bill on constitutional matters to reaffirm the “constitutional supremacy and reforming power” of Congress because “we are permanent constituents.”

He detailed that the initiative will be presented together with Adán Augusto López, coordinator of Morena in the Senate, according to a statement.

“If we are coordinators, if we are permanent constituents and we are members of the reforming power, we better go to the reform of the Political Constitution to reaffirm the sense of the supremacy of the reforming power that is established in articles 105 and 107 of our Constitution,” he highlighted. in a message on their social networks.

Monreal Ávila considered that the most profound reform has been that of the Judicial Branch, which establishes the election of judges and magistrates by popular vote.

“There is still resistance. For me, it is the enclave of conservatism and resistance to neoliberalism, which was essential to reform,” he declared at the meeting of legislators with the Morena leadership.

“For us, in the Chamber of Deputies, it is truly a pride to have reformed the Constitution in this essential matter, despite the fact that the Constitution is very clear and does not admit any appeal against constitutional reforms, nor protections, nor actions of unconstitutionality, nor constitutional controversies. The Constitution says that very clearly,” he stressed.

When referring to the judicial measures against the reform, Monreal assured that no judicial body had ever dared to ignore the Constitution and issue “arrogant acts that are overreaching, exorbitant and unconstitutional.”

He said that there are elements to politically prosecute judges who, from his point of view, have violated the Constitution, but that it is not worth doing so.

President Claudia Sheinbaum charged on Monday against Judge Nancy Juárez, who ordered the publication of the reform of the Judicial Branch to be removed from the Official Gazette of the Federation.

The president indicated that she has not yet received official notification, but assured that when that happens, the Presidency will consult Congress to determine if it is possible to eliminate a reform through a court order.
