The Musk cost reduction program under the government efficiency department has devastated federal agencies since Donald Trump began his second term as president last month.
Musk said President Donald Trump commissioned him to ensure that Fort Knox, the legendary gold reserve deposit in Kentucky, continues to retain that wealth.
“It is the gold of the public. It is his gold. So, I think they have the right to see it, to make a ‘tour’. I think a tour should be taken, ”he said in the forum that is celebrated until Saturday on the outskirts of Washington.
The owner of X and CEO Tesla and Spacex added that he would love to see him.
This Wednesday, the Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, had already confirmed that Fort Knox continues to keep that gold: “We made an audit every year. All gold is present and counted, ”he said in an interview.
According to the United States Currency House, the agency in charge of producing the currency that is currently in circulation in the country, there are 147.3 million ounces.
Fort Knox keeps approximately half of the gold stored by the treasure. That same precise organism on its website that the greatest amount that came to house was in 1941, with a total of 649.6 million ounces.
“I simply want to see it,” Musk concluded.
