Mexico City.- Two weeks after leaving prison, Israel Vallarta installed a tent in front of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), from where he called to clean his name after almost two decades of seclusion.

“My name has to be cleaned,” Vallarta said before media, he reported Quadratín Mexico.

Arrested in 2005 during an operation at Rancho Las Chinitas, orchestrated by the then Federal Research Agency (AFI) under the command of Genaro García Luna, Vallarta remained almost 20 years in preventive detention without receiving a sentence.

Now in freedom, he said that he will ask the competent authorities to do justice in their case and punish those responsible. He also revealed that in 2006 he began a investigation against García Luna, and asked the media and the judicial system to investigate whether that folder has been judicialized.

“It would be good if the media were investigated or asked if it was already prosecuted,” he said in front of the Court.

Regarding possible actions against García Luna, Vallarta clarified that he does not seek revenge or has authority to judge him: “I am not a judge, I do not touch me to sentence it.”

He left open the possibility of looking for an encounter with President Claudia Sheinbaum, although the president ruled out the immediate possibility of a meeting.

During his morning conference this Friday, Sheinbaum indicated that, if desired, Vallarta must formally request the process in accordance with the General Victims Law, so that an eventual compensation is evaluated.

“You have to request, there is a procedure that clearly establishes the Victims Law (…) then this process has to begin if you want,” the president explained.
