The National Agricultural Council (CNA) asked the federal government to continue dialogue with representatives of the countryside to solve the “complex situation” that the grain sector is going through, while demanding the cessation of road cuts and blockades registered in different states.
In a statement, the ANC urged protesters to allow free movement on roads to allow the “normal development” of economic activities, and therefore called on them to look for “other mechanisms” to reach agreements.
In Guanajuato, farmers cut train tracks, blocked roads and toll booths in what is one of the main agricultural regions of Mexico.
Faced with this situation, the CNA asked the government to continue with the “inclusive and representative” dialogue tables, in which the real leadership of the field participates.

Although he recognized progress in negotiation in states such as Michoacán or Guanajuato, he called for continuing to build a new Mexican system of market organization and commercialization.
For this reason, he defended “fundamental solutions that strengthen the competitiveness of the sector, promote the well-being of all producers (…) that guarantee food security, as a national security issue.”
Likewise, he claimed his willingness to collaborate with the authorities and all the actors involved to “strengthen the Mexican countryside.”

During recent days, different states of the country have been experiencing protests by the agricultural sector demanding a minimum price of 6,000 pesos per ton of corn.
Farmers also demand “dignified negotiation,” and “dignification of the field and the life of each farmer in Mexico.”
