An affiliate of Nebraska Furniture Market has initiated infrastructure work on a 118-acre mixed-use development northwest of Austin.
CedarView, at 750 East New Hope Drive in Cedar Park, will be anchored by a 1.2 million-square-foot Nebraska Furniture Mart, the Austin Business Journal reported. It will also include another 250,000 square feet of retail space, a 250-key hotel and a 30,000-square-foot convention center. The development could add 5 million square feet of commercial space to the suburb.
CPM Development LLC, which is tied to Berkshire Hathaway-owned NFM, will oversee the project’s planning and execution. The furniture store is expected to open in 2027.
In addition to the retail and hospitality components, CedarView will have 700,000 square feet of warehouse space, supporting logistics and retail functions.
The city of Cedar Park has committed $45 million in performance-based rebates tied to job creation, infrastructure improvements and the overall success of the project. It is expected to generate $435 million in tax revenue over its first 25 years of operation.Â
The NFM location will be the largest furniture store in the region, bringing a significant retail presence to Cedar Park. NFM has stores in Omaha, Nebraska; Kansas City, Kansas; and in The Colony, north of Dallas and Fort Worth. It plans to employ at least 700 people in Cedar Park, including interior designers, sales professionals, customer service staff and warehouse employees.
Meanwhile, Scheels, a major sporting goods retailer known for its massive stores featuring entertainment attractions, will add another layer to the development. A 240,000-square-foot Scheels location is expected to open in fall 2026, featuring a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a large aquarium and numerous specialty shops, while providing more than 500 local jobs.
