The Swiss food giant Nestlé announced on Monday the immediate cessation of his CEO, Laurent Freixe, after being the object of an internal investigation to maintain sentimental relationships with a direct subordinated, in violation with the code of business behavior.

The Vavey firm announced this measure in a statement where it also reported the appointment of Philipp Navrathil as a new CEO, according to the decision of the Board of Directors of the firm, which had ordered the investigation.

The decision to change the CEO “was necessary, since Nestlé’s values and governance are solid pillars of the company,” said multinational president Paul Bulcke, who supervised with Freixe’s investigation independent counselor.

Navrathil, who entered the executive table of Nestlé in January 2025, began his journey in Nestlé 24 years ago, first as an internal auditor, and occupied various commercial positions in Central America, including the director of Nestlé Honduras or that of the coffee and drink business in Mexico.

“The Council is confident that it will boost our growth plans and accelerate efforts to improve efficiency. We will not change course in the strategy or lose rhythm,” said President Bulcke.

In July, the company, the largest in the world in the food sector, reported net benefits of 5,065 million francs (5,400 million euros) in the first half of 2025, 10.3% less than in the same period of 2024, affected by the strength of the Switzerland currency, which reduced the total value of its sales.
