A new Netflix K-drama that released its initial episode on Saturday, January 17, is now a massive streaming hit. The series is a comedy crime drama set in the late 1990s, telling the story of Hong Geum-bo, who goes undercover to get to the bottom of mysterious happenings at a security company.

Netflix‘s Undercover Miss Hong features Park Shin-hye in the lead role, with supporting actors including Go Kyung-pyo, Ha Yoon-kyung, Cho Han-gyeol, Kim Hyung-mook, Lee Deok-hwa, and Kim Do-hyun. The series’ next episode is coming out tomorrow, January 31, and is slated to have 16 episodes in total.

Now, Undercover Miss Hong has become a global hit, making it to no. 6 worldwide for the week of January 19 to January 25 among non-English language TV shows on the streaming platform, per Netflix TUDUM. It has garnered 1.9 million views in total.

In order to achieve this status, Undercover Miss Hong reached the top 10 status in 14 countries, including two outside the continent of Asia (Bolivia and Peru). It did extremely well within Asia, charting in South Korea, but also in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and more.

10 Best K-Dramas To Stream On Netflix Right Now

Netflix has a large number of K-dramas that include both licensed and original shows– and these are the best shows to stream on the platform.

At the top of 2025, Netflix announced big plans for Korean-language content to be rolled out throughout the year, including Squid Game season 3. This year, they have continued on that promise and even increased the numbers, promising 33 Korean-language films and TV shows to drop on the platform in 2026.

This amounts to more than one every other week, showing how committed Netflix is to K-drama-related content, and Undercover Miss Hong is further proof that this strategy is succeeding. The series has achieved noticeable success after releasing only four episodes on the platform, and it could still rise as the weeks go on and people become more hooked on its story.

Looking further into last week’s global top 10, multiple other titles are recently released Korean-language shows. This includes Can This Love Be Translated?, which topped the list as it spent its second week in the top 10. Also present were Single’s Inferno season 5 and No Tail to Tell.

As the weeks go on, it will be interesting to see how high Undercover Miss Hong can get on the Netflix top 10. With the rate K-dramas are being released (including The Art of Sarah on February 13), the comedy series could quickly be ousted from the top 10, but it still has a chance to cling to its position.

Undercover Miss Hong will release new episodes every Saturday and Sunday on Netflix until March 8, 2026.
