The EU Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) appointed Michael Lambert, head of Commerce of the Urban Outfitters trade, which acknowledged a global “complicated” global environment in full deployment of the tariff policy of the Government of Donald Trump.

Lambert, in a statement, said that he has “seen firsthand the great benefits of being part of the main commercial association of textile and clothing importers” for 20 years and advocated making this group a “resource” to support companies in the “complexities and uncertainties” of the coming years.

“It would be a euphemism to say that the current global commercial environment is complicated. Import requirements are changing every week, sometimes every day. The costs are going up. The regulations are becoming more complicated,” said the executive.

The USFIA criticized in April the “disproportionate” impact of the new Washington tariffs in the fashion sector, which depends largely on Asian countries for importation, and on its website denounces the negative effect on supply chains.

Mission again director of the USFIA is ‘to eliminate barriers to trade’

According to the group, US companies and consumers pay from the entry into force of Trump’s tariff policy 677,000 million dollars and estimates an impact of 20,000 million on textile imports only this year.

The president of USFIA, Julia Hughes, on the other hand, said that Lambert leads the group to “victories in commercial policies” for its members and claimed that their mission is to “eliminate barriers to trade”, while helping them comply with employment regulations, human and environmental rights.

The group also appointed a new vice president, Maristella Iacobello, who is a high executive of the specialized PVH fashion conglomerate precisely in compliance with trade and customs regulations, indicates the note.
