Happy New Music Friday! The first major release week of February 2026 is officially here, and it’s a massive one. After last week’s releases showed a mixed bag of genres and music artists, this week the floodgates have opened with three heavy-hitting albums from superstars returning after long hiatuses.
From Nick Jonas’s most vulnerable work to date to Joji’s first independent venture and Ella Mai’s return to R&B dominance, here is everything you need to know about the new music dropping on Friday, February 6.
Nick Jonas – Sunday Best
The Comeback: Nick Jonas returns with his fifth solo studio album, Sunday Best, marking his first full-length solo project since 2021’s Spaceman.
The Vibe: Leaving the polished pop-funk of his previous era behind, Jonas describes this record as his “most personal and reflective” yet. Influenced by his early roots singing in church choirs, the album leans into warm, soulful arrangements and organic instrumentation.
Key Tracks: The lead single, “Gut Punch,” has already set the tone with its raw lyrics about self-doubt and the pressure of being a “perfect” father and husband. Expect the rest of the album to explore similar themes of rediscovery, family life, and giving oneself grace.
Listen if you like: Honest storytelling, acoustic textures, and a mature evolution of the Jonas Brothers sound.
Joji – Piss in the Wind
The Comeback: Joji is back with his fourth studio album, provocatively titled Piss in the Wind. This is a significant milestone for the Japanese-Australian artist as it is his first major release since departing his longtime label, 88rising.
The Vibe: Released via Palace Creek/Virgin Music, the album bridges Joji’s lo-fi “SoundCloud” origins with the polished, melancholic production that made “Glimpse of Us” a global hit. The record is described as gritty, atmospheric, and brooding—balancing his signature heartbreak anthems with flashes of dark, absurdist wit.
Key Tracks: The album includes the acoustic-driven “If It Only Gets Better” and the recently teased “Last of a Dying Breed.”
Listen if you like: Late-night driving, lo-fi beats, and sad-boy anthems that hit too close to home.
Ella Mai – Do You Still Love Me?
The Comeback: The Queen of “Boo’d Up” returns with her third studio album, Do You Still Love Me?. Executive produced by her longtime collaborator Mustard, the project is a “love letter” to the different stages of romance.
The Vibe: Recorded while Mai was pregnant and postpartum, the album offers a shifted perspective on love—moving from the insecurity of new relationships to the deep, terrifying commitment of building a family. The cover art, featuring Mai peering through window blinds, hints at the themes of perspective and privacy.
Key Tracks: The release is anchored by the hit single “100,” which uses casino metaphors to talk about the risks of trust, as well as the Destiny’s Child-interpolating “Tell Her.”
Listen if you like: Classic 90s R&B nostalgia, Mustard beats, and velvet-smooth vocals.
