The Nike sportswear chain is saying goodbye to some employees of their technology division, said a company representative to Reuters.
Nike will transfer part of that work to external suppliers, the representative said in an email, adding that the changes were announced last week.
The representative did not specify how many employees were fired. Nor is it clear so far how many people work in Nike’s technology division.
Bloomberg News was the first to report on the matter on Monday morning.

New Nike CEO maintains restructuring announced in October
The Air Jordan manufacturer predicted in March a more pronounced fall in the revenues of the fourth quarter of what analysts expected, adopting a cautious tone while working to rekindle the interest of consumers who went to more modern competitors.
Earlier this month, Nike’s executive director, Elliott Hill, made several changes in the management team. Hill assumed command in October to lead the restructuring of a company that has lately had difficulty designing new and innovative footwear.
