The Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León ruled out that Colombian professor Leonardo Ariel Escobar Barrios has filed a complaint against any official for the alleged attacks that he claims he received during his detention at the Monterrey International Airport.
“No (she filed a complaint). There is a report of disappearance, as of January 8,” revealed the Attorney General, Javier Flores Saldívar, in an interview with the media, this Wednesday.
The foreigner arrived in Nuevo León on December 31 and was detained at the air terminal for an administrative offense by National Guard agents and transferred to the Apodaca municipal police cells where he remained under arrest for 36 hours.
The 42-year-old man stated that he was attacked during his detention, which is why he suffered three broken ribs.
However, the Prosecutor said that when he was located on January 16 after disappearing for several days after being released from arrest, an examination was performed that showed no injuries.

“In the previous examination carried out by the prosecutor’s medical examiner, the injuries that he refers to regarding the ribs apparently did not exist,” he stated.
Escobar Barrios was reported missing, but according to his own version he was disoriented around the local airport and received help from staff at a rehabilitation center where he was located by agents from the Prosecutor’s Office on January 16.
The Attorney General of Justice of Nuevo León mentioned that if the Colombian has the injuries he says he must verify them with medical opinions.
“If he refers to the existence of a type of injury, he must have the evidence to prove it,” he said.
He revealed that the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) has already been informed, which would be in charge of carrying out the investigation regarding the actions of the National Guard agents.
