A Taiwanese tech giant snapped up a North Fort Worth industrial building as it inches closer to building two U.S. supercomputer plants in partnership with Nvidia.

Wistron InfoComm USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Wistron, bought a 324,600-square-foot property at 15200 Heritage Parkway in Denton County last month, the Dallas Business Journal reported. The seller was Trammell Crow Company.

The building, part of the 35 Eagle business park near the Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, is believed to be the first of two proposed factory sites tied to a $687 million investment plan with Nvidia. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The second plant is expected to rise at Hillwood’s Westport 14 site nearby, where Wistron is reportedly in negotiations. Tax abatement agreements with the City of Fort Worth and Denton County have already been approved.

Wistron hasn’t announced its plans, but filings and real estate moves suggest they’re imminent. The company’s $150 million renovation plan for the 35 Eagle building was registered with the state earlier this month. Construction could begin as soon as Aug. 7, with Gray AES listed as the project designer.

“This one was really quick,” said Denton County economic development manager Rina Maloney. “It’s my understanding, it’s because they were trying to finalize the sale with Hillwood.”

The full project could bring 888 jobs to the region, according to estimates from local government leaders.

Wistron, formerly part of Acer, is an original design manufacturer that’s worked with Apple in the past and now partners with Nvidia on U.S.-based supercomputing initiatives. Nvidia’s broader push includes efforts with other manufacturing partners like TSMC and Foxconn as part of a $500 billion U.S. infrastructure play focused on artificial intelligence.

If finalized, the deal would mark one of the largest industrial investments in Fort Worth since Intel’s ill-fated chip plant attempt in the late ’90s. That $2 billion project never started construction, but Wistron’s quick pace has local leaders optimistic that this time is different.
