A New York City real estate agent who built a sizable YouTube following with luxury home tours was charged with attempted murder after allegedly striking a police officer with his car.
Erik Conover, formerly with Nest Seekers International, was arrested in New Hampshire last week following a police pursuit, which law enforcement claims ended with Conover injuring an officer’s leg and driving off, local TV station WMUR reported.
Police documents say the incident occurred after officers pulled Conover over for driving 25 miles per hour over the speed limit. An officer had allegedly gotten out of his vehicle to try to de-escalate the situation with Conover but was instead struck by the car and thrown 40 feet.
The officer, Cameron Emmett, was taken to the hospital for a leg injury and has since been released.
Conover denied the allegations at his arraignment and accused officers of lying about the incident.
“I have everything right here, and it’s all falsified,” Conover said. “If anyone dares try to test my mental competence, I will eviscerate every single person with my intelligence right now.”
Conover runs a YouTube channel with nearly 3 million subscribers, which showcases ultra-luxury listings across New York City, Aspen and Miami, among others.
Conover, who launched his internet fame as a travel vlogger, ventured into real estate after collaborating on a listing video with Ryan Serhant in 2018. After obtaining his real estate license two years later, he joined Nest Seekers and was handed $100 million in listings from the firm’s CEO, Eddie Shapiro.
Conover appears to be no longer licensed with Nest Seekers. His page has been removed from the company’s website, and the New York Department of State doesn’t have a record of his license.
The judge ordered Conover remain in jail until at least his probable cause hearing, which is slated for this week. Police also said Conover was arrested the Wednesday prior to the incident on a drunk driving charge, though Conover claimed he’s been sober for roughly four years.
