Looking for Sundayâs Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here:
Letâs start the week off with a brand new Strands, which is about something you may have done this weekend, or something you wish you did.
How To Play Strands
The New York Timesâ Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. Itâs in beta for now, which means itâll only stick around if enough people play it every day.
Thereâs a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and youâll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue.
Youâll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow.
Be warned: Youâll need to be on your toes.
âSome themes are fill-in-the-blank phrases. They may also be steps in a process, items that all belong to the same category, synonyms or homophones,â The New York Times notes. âJust as she varies the difficulty of Wordle puzzles within a week, [Wordle and Strands editor Tracy] Bennett plans to throw Strands solvers curveballs every once in a while.â
What Is Todayâs Strands Hint?
Time to start with the official hint and then we will move to one I make up myself. The hint is:
Make waves
Mine is:
Ships ahoy!
That should get you started.
What Are Todayâs Strands Answers?
Time for the actual answer portion of the post beginning with the spangram and then the full list of answers. Spoilers follow after this. The spangram is:
WATERCRAFT
And that is found here:
The answer list is:
- GONDOLA
- PADDLEBOARD
- DORY
- DINGHY
- KAYAK
- CANOE
You know what was annoying here? The words WATER is spelled out here but itâs not actually connected to any of the words. Also I learned some new boats here as I did not know what a GONDOLA was and I thought DORY was just the fish from Finding Nemo. I guess thatâs what sheâs named after?
Anyway, fun puzzle and it makes me wish I was out on the lake.
