In a message on network X, the president announced that “the tariffs are paused for a month from now on.”
Shortly after, Trump himself confirmed the agreement after what he defined as a “very friendly conversation” with Sheinbaum.
“We agreed to immediately suspend the anticipated tariffs for a period of one month,” Trump announced on the Truth social network.
In that period, the two countries will maintain high -level negotiations to reach a definitive agreement.
Sheinbaum announced that “Mexico will reinforce the northern border with 10,000 National Guard elements immediately, to avoid drug trafficking,” in particular fentanyl.
