The American company OpenAI reported that its artificial intelligence chatbot has recovered “almost completely” after having stopped working normally around 1:00 p.m. Mexico time (7:00 p.m. GMT) on Thursday.
“We are almost completely connected again, we appreciate your patience!” the company wrote on Thursday night in a message on its X account.
The company indicated at 8 p.m. on Thursday in Mexico on its website that the chatbot (computer program with which you can have a conversation) was “almost recovered” and that it continued working to reach “a global solution.”

OpenAI acknowledged on Thursday in its own service that it was suffering from a high percentage of errors that it was trying to fix.
The American company assured that it has identified the origin of the failures, which also affect Sora (text video generator), and that they are evaluating them.
According to OpenAI, the problem has been caused by a third-party provider.
Throughout Thursday afternoon, the company updated that Sora’s technical errors had already been resolved, but at 8 p.m. in Mexico, its famous ‘chatbot’ was still not working normally.
On Thursday afternoon, ChatGPT users began reporting problems with the service, according to reports sent to the Downdetector application.
When performing a search on ChatGPT from Spain, the ‘chatbot’ did not respond to the query and reported that something was going wrong.
“If this issue persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com,” the message added.
This is not the first time that ChatGPT has suffered technical problems, and in recent months the chatbot has stopped working for hours on a couple of occasions.
The service became popular at the end of 2023 for the multiple functionalities it offers and for answering all kinds of questions.
ChatGPT has 300 million active users per week. 1 billion messages are sent through its platform every day, according to data from OpenAI.
