The senators of the National Action Party (PAN) announced a new suspension of the reform of the Judicial Branch of Mexico, the second issued by a judge in the country in a week.
The resolution was issued by the Third District Court in the state of Baja California, in response to the amparo trial promoted by Senator Susana Zatarain and Senator Gustavo Sánchez against the election of judges in 2025 in Mexico.
This suspension prohibits the authorities from executing or applying the provisions of the reform that came into force on September 16, prior approval by Congress and the 32 local legislatures.
The judicial measure includes the Upper House of Congress suspending the electoral process and refraining from following up on the call to integrate lists and swear in the eventual winners of the election.
It also includes that the state congresses, that of Mexico City, the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Judiciary Council refrain from executing the decree, as well as guaranteeing the salaries of the judges.

Sheinbaum maintains that judicial reform will not be eliminated
“Claudia Sheinbaum’s government must respect the division of powers as established by our Constitution and abide by all the resolutions that have been issued in relation to this reform, since not only has the legislative procedure been violated, but it has also been put into risk the autonomy and independence of the Judiciary,” the coordinator of the PAN senators, Guadalupe Murguía, expressed in a press conference.
This suspension is added to the one reached on October 17, promoted by the Mexican representative Laura Ballesteros, of the Citizen Movement (MC), in which the removal of its official publication is also promoted.
In this regard, President Claudia Sheinbaum maintained that they will not eliminate its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), since she maintains that the Amparo Law emphasizes in its article 61 that this trial does not proceed in the face of constitutional reforms and that the judging person He exceeded his duties.
