Nine organizations founded the Infrastructure Policy Council (CPI), whose mission is to support the development of infrastructure in Mexico, taking comprehensive sustainability as its central axis, with equity and inclusion, through the formulation of public policies for the continuous improvement of the cycle. life of the infrastructure in all its phases.
The Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF), one of the nine founding organizations, noted that the central concept that will guide the council’s efforts views infrastructure as a permanent service to society.
He explained that the CPI arises from the problems that the country faces in this matter, a result of the low levels of current investment (2% of GDP versus the 5% required) and great challenges for the future; In addition, infrastructure governance lacks effective dialogue from the perspective of society.

• Support the federal Executive and Legislature on the priorities of sustainable infrastructure development in Mexico with a long-term vision and social responsibility.
• Suggest recommendations that promote the participation of the private and social sector in the development of infrastructure in Mexico, under the best international practices on the matter.
• Promote and disseminate best practices in the infrastructure development cycle, through standards, positioning documents, social participation mechanisms and any other means that favors their dissemination to the union, academia, the public sector and society.
• Promote dialogue between the government and society on infrastructure policies.
