(Reuters) Ovidio Guzmán reached an agreement with the US authorities on drug trafficking charges he faced in the Northern District of Illinois, as shown on Tuesday US judicial records.

Ovid, son of the sentenced drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, was considered one of the leaders of the famous Sinaloa Cartel until he was captured and extradited to the United States in 2023.

According to US authorities, Ovid and his brothers, known as “Los Chapitos”, directed a wide drug trafficking operation and “allegedly reaped hundreds of millions of dollars in profits flooding the United States with fentanyl.”
