The Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this Tuesday a total of four new arrests, two men and two women, within the investigation into the robbery committed at the Louvre Museum on October 19, in which eight valuable jewels were stolen that could not yet be recovered.

The confirmation came a few minutes after the French press leaked that there had been the arrest of a man who is believed to be the fourth and last member of the commando that carried out the robbery in the Apollo Gallery, since his other three companions had already been arrested in the preceding weeks.

Regarding the new arrests, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office indicated in a statement that the two men are 38 and 39 years old, while the two women are 31 and 40 years old and all of them are originally from the Paris region.

“These people must be questioned by investigators,” prosecutor Laure Beccuau said in the message, who also specified that no more information will be given about the charges against them until their preventive detention ends.

In any case, he recalled that there are already four other people charged in this case, which is being handled by the Paris Organized Gang Suppression Brigade (BRB) and the Central Office for the Fight against Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC).

The first arrests occurred on October 25, after one of the alleged perpetrators of the robbery was intercepted at the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport while trying to leave France towards Algeria.

In these first two cases, according to the press, the DNA that investigators found at the scene of the robbery was crucial for the identification of the two men, who were already on the police radar for previous criminal activities.

Both, aged 35 and 39, are accused of charges of robbery in an organized gang and association of criminals for the preparation of crimes and crimes, punishable by ten years in prison.

On October 29, there were five new provisional arrests, of which two ended in charges.

It involved a third man – also an alleged member of the commando that committed the robbery – aged 37, who is accused of the same charges as his alleged companions, and a 38-year-old woman who is charged with the crime of complicity in the robbery and association of criminals.
