Between 2018 and 2023, women in Mexico increased their participation in economic activities, going from 41.3% of the total employed personnel to 43.6%.
That last figure is the highest recorded by the Economic Censuses, according to Inegi.
This growth reflected greater labor and economic inclusion of women, especially in sectors such as commerce, where their participation reached 49.1%, according to preliminary data published by the institute this Thursday.
The entities with the highest participation of women in economic activities were Oaxaca (53.1%), Guerrero (50.6%), Tlaxcala (49%), Michoacán, (48.4%) and Morelos (48.2%), according to data emerge from the 2024 Economic Censuses.
The Inegi reported that in 2024 in Mexico there were 7 million establishments and almost 37 million people worked in them.

He clarified that the information from these economic censuses was collected in 2024, which made it possible to know the total number of establishments that existed in that year, as well as their employed personnel.
While economic information (income, expenses, remuneration and information technologies, among other variables) refers to 2023.
