Paul Thomas Anderson – also called PTA – arrived in Mexican lands this week as part of the press tour of his new film “One Battle after another”, starring the winner of Óscar Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, and who also marks the acting debut of Chase Infiniti.
During his visit for our country, the director of “Magnolia” shared at a little press conference the process of this new film, which has been described as the best in his career and defined as “a roller coaster but with a human core.” However, for PTA, the heart of this new project is the characters themselves, which describes that you are going from “less to more” throughout the plot.
“I wait for that (the development of characters) to contribute to that sensation of roller coaster, and I think that perhaps the reason why this tape seems to be connecting with the public, it is because you cannot escape the love that some characters transmit in tremendous situations and see how they react.”
On the same line, DiCaprio said that “if Paul offers you to be in her movie, you first accept and then read the script”, and then talk about how he managed to interpret a father who is intrusted in the search of his daughter.
“These characters have a humanity and try to make their own way in a world of extremes. My character is the reflection of a society while trying to make their people join and treat that humanity to help them.”
On the other hand, Chase Infiniti seconded Dicaprio about how to join a director as iconic as PTA, also highlighting how his first experience in a set was a masterclass being surrounded by actors who are already recognized worldwide.
“Only having this opportunity to be in his set (…) and being next to Leo, Sean Pen, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall and Teyana Taylor was something that he would never let go, but also see his work (from Anderson) and his process, I think that was what made me follow more than anything in this project,” the actress concluded.

Benicio del Toro did not miss his opportunity to comment on his experience in this new film, beginning to express himself in Spanish about the director as “the three great letters: PTA”
“Create a story that is unpredictable, full of humanity and humor, with each character being so three -dimensional, to the bad boys. Everything exposes it brilliantly (…) and then there is the cast”, to which the actor continued to exalt each of the actors and actresses involved.
As another point to stand out from this new film, DiCaprio pointed out that the same production managed to create “a universe like the Star Wars but in this world”, for which which an actor of “Titanic” concluded by saying that “the public will have a great time watching the film and especially in the cinema”, emphasizing that it is a film experience.
Based on the novel “Vineland” by American writer Thomas Pynchon, PTA’s film tells the story of Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a former revolutionary of the 60s who must bring together his former team of fellow activists to rescue his daughter, who was kidnapped by an enemy of the past, played by Sean Penn.
“One battle after another” will arrive on September 25 to theaters of Mexico.
