The state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) confirmed this Wednesday that it is in a negotiation process with the United States for the sale of “volumes” of crude oil, after President Donald Trump assured that the Caracas Executive is willing to deliver 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to them.
“This process is developed under schemes similar to those in force with international companies such as Chevron, and is based on a strictly commercial transaction, with criteria of legality, transparency and benefit for both parties,” PDVSA said in a statement published on social networks.
The state company ratified its commitment to continue “building alliances” that promote national development in favor of Venezuelan citizens and that contribute “to global energy stability.”
On Tuesday, Trump assured that the Government of Venezuela, now led by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez after the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by US troops during an operation on Venezuelan soil, is willing to give them 30 to 50 million barrels of oil that will be sold in the North American market.
In a Truth Social publication, the president described the millions of barrels as “high-quality oil authorized in the United States.”
Trump added that he will be in charge of controlling the money from the sale of oil in the local market “to guarantee that it is used for the benefit of the Venezuelan people and the United States.”

This Wednesday, the White House pointed out that the crude oil that Caracas agreed to transfer to Washington for marketing includes “sanctioned” oil “on board ships” and added that the Rodríguez government “has agreed to release” these hydrocarbons.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said the pact “deals with sanctioned oil stored in barrels and ships due to the effective blockade imposed by the United States” on Venezuela, as part of the pressure on Maduro.
The statements by the Republican Administration spokesperson come hours after Washington captured two other sanctioned oil tankers linked to Venezuela, one of them carrying what is believed to be about 2 million barrels of crude oil in the Caribbean, according to expert estimates.
In addition, the US Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, said this Wednesday that his Government will control the sale of Venezuelan oil for an “indefinite” period.
The official announced, in a press conference, that Washington will allow the sale of Venezuelan crude oil to US refineries and around the world, but indicated that “those sales will be made by the US Government and will be deposited in accounts controlled by the US Government.”
