Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) plans to produce an average of 1.58 million barrels per day of crude in 2025, below around 1.6 million BPD that currently produces, according to a report sent to the United States Securities Commission (SEC).

The company, one of the most indebted oil companies in the world, did not specify if its estimate included production with partners. Pemex’s pumping fell 11% year -on -year in the first quarter due to the decline of ripe fields and well -ending delays.

Pemex is far from the goal of 1.8 million BPD of crude oil set by President Claudia Sheinbaum. State executives recently said in a call with analysts about their quarterly results that the company works to raise the pumping to the goal by the end of the year and keep it at those levels during the current government, which culminates in 2030.

Pemex, one of the largest companies in Mexico, also told the document to the SEC that hopes to maintain the production of natural gas above 4,414 million cubic feet a day in 2025.

The company said it seeks to achieve “these objectives” through increased reserves through new discoveries and reclassifications, exploration and production in areas in which it has more experience and with secondary and tertiary recovery techniques.
