Mexico City, (EFE) .- Pemex will spend more than 30,000 million pesos as part of its frontal combat to the illicit market and fuel control, which will include coordination with security forces, new surveillance equipment and volumetric monitoring.

The company has managed to eliminate 7,337 clandestine shots and recover about 51 million liters of hydrocarbon since 2019, according to the strategic plan for the strengthening of the oil company 2025-2035

This figure is equivalent to a value of more than one billion pesos, which has allowed to increase sales, especially in border regions.

This effort, according to the document, will be possible thanks to the coordination between Pemex and the federal and state authorities, such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the National Guard and the Attorney General’s Office.

Future combat strategy and illicit market

PEMEX will reinforce its comprehensive security and intelligence strategy through an investment of 10,967 million pesos.

Among the key actions, the installation of “latest generation equipment” is intended for the measurement and quality control of the products, as well as the implementation of a ‘central control unit’, which would integrate data throughout the value chain.

“This strategy is carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Citizen Security and Protection, the Ministry of National Defense, the Secretary of the Navy, the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office, as well as with the regulatory bodies of the energy sector,” the plan details.

In addition, another of the objectives of the new PEMEX plan is to raise compliance with volumetric controls of 15% to 96%, which will allow detecting non -operational deviations and losses with greater precision.

According to the document, for this initiative there will be a budget of 23,139 million pesos, “which represents an 81% improvement in volumetric management and supervision.”

However, Pemex acknowledges that it is essential to maintain and calibrate the measurement systems continuously, “in order to generate certainty at the custody transfer points and guarantee the necessary volumetric traceability to detect non -operational deviations and losses in the various oil facilities.”

“These actions allow precisely identifying the quality and volume of the recovered product, thus contributing to the comprehensive security and intelligence strategy implemented against the illicit fuel market,” says the text.

In this PEMEX strategy, it also provides for the development of a strict digital system for the control of self -tanning access to storage and refineries in Tula, Salamanca and Madero, in coordination with the Digital Transformation Agency and Telecommunications.

In turn, the supervisory and data acquisition control system (SCADA) will be reinforced, which will allow real -time monitoring the operational conditions of the ducts and facilitating the early detection of anomalies, “thus strengthening the ability to monitor, response and decision making.”

On July 26, the Attorney General of the Republic confiscated 1.8 million liters of illegal hydrocarbon (huachicol) and a property in Tamaulipas.

The operation is part of the safety cabinet efforts to combat illegal fuel storage and storage, a crime that has generated millionaire losses calculated at almost 4 million dollars between 2019 and 2024.
