Mexico City.- Pemex actively seeks to diversify its markets both to import fuels and for its crude oil exports, said Margarita Pérez, director of the commercial arm of the state company, PMI.

Reuters reported at the beginning of the month that Pemex has been looking for alternate markets for its crude to the threats of imposition of tariffs in the United States, the main destination of its exports, and has talked with companies in Europe and Asia, including China, where there is “appetite” by the Mexican crude.

“If the opportunity opens, we are going to take it, and we are doing it (…) we must have a strategy to open markets,” said Pérez, during a discussion panel in the Senate.
