The peso depreciated this Monday, at the beginning of the last month of the year for the market, pressured by the advance of the dollar externally following comments by the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.

The peso was trading at 20.5280 per dollar, with a loss of 0.82% compared to the LSEG reference price on Friday.

“Today, the peso is affected by the strengthening of the dollar, awaiting a fairly relevant weekly agenda, considering the publication of labor market figures and Jerome Powell’s comments that will allow more visibility towards the last monetary policy meeting of the year “said the Monex brokerage.

The dollar rose after Trump marked a shift from his previous advocacy of a weaker dollar by demanding BRICS member countries pledge not to create a new currency or support another.
