The Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, responded to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, that “he is uninformed” about the country, after the North American president warned him hours before that he will be “next”, alluding to the pressure that his Government is exerting against the Venezuelan ruler, Nicolás Maduro.

“Trump is a very uninformed man about Colombia. It is a shame because he discards the country that knows the most about cocaine trafficking. It seems that his interlocutors are completely deceiving him,” Petro said when reading a message during a televised council of ministers that he said he would publish on X.

The US president today ruled out the possibility of speaking soon with Petro, arguing that the Colombian president “has been quite hostile” to the United States: “I hope he is listening to me. He will be next.”
