The ‘Alianza In México’, which brings together digital platforms such as DiDi, Rappi and Uber, called this Friday on Congress to open dialogue on the recent initiative to reform the Federal Labor Law, which seeks to grant social security to application delivery workers. .

In a statement, the organization urged the Legislature to establish an inclusive communication mechanism “on work on digital platforms that results in a regulation of broad social consensus.”

“In particular, Alianza In México considers that there are still relevant issues that require further analysis and study so that delivery people, drivers, companies and other participants in the ecosystem of digital platforms have certainty about their rights and obligations,” he said. .

Among these issues, he highlighted the need to provide clarity in the tax regime applicable to work on platforms, and to detail in the transitional articles the guidelines that the IMSS will issue to implement the pilot program proposed in the initiative.

In addition, he called to preserve the opportunity to generate income through platforms for people who do not have their own vehicles to provide services.

The initiative, presented by President Claudia Sheinbaum, seeks to reform the Federal Labor Law to provide social security to delivery workers of digital applications such as Uber, Rappi and Didi, which would benefit up to 658,000 people.

The proposal includes the incorporation of drivers and delivery people into the IMSS, as long as their monthly income is at least one minimum wage (7,468 pesos).

In this way, delivery drivers could access benefits such as protection against occupational risks, accident and illness insurance, maternity leave, daycare and pensions.
