Pokémon Black & White Next-Gen Remake Leaves Gamers Torn

Last year saw Game Freak become the subject of devastating hacking, leading to the studio’s plans for the Pokémon franchise all the way up to 2030 being revealed. It is due to this that many fans believe that a remake of the Nintendo DS’ Pokémon Black & White will soon be announced. However, with Pokémon fans feeling torn over this potential revival, it remains to be seen if a Pokémon Black & White remake will achieve what Game Freak hope for.

First released back in 2010, the first installment in the fifth generation of Pokémon games was met with positive reviews and with 15.64 million copies sold by September 2017, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version became part of the best-selling games for the Nintendo DS. So could a potential remake perform even better?

Are Pokémon Black & White Remakes Coming?

If the Game Freak leaks are to be believed, Pokémon Black & White will be among the upcoming releases to arrive before 2030. However, this has not yet been confirmed by Game Freak or The Pokémon Company, leaving many fans to speculate whether it will even happen. That being said, this will not be the first Pokémon remake and with Game Freak reportedly claiming that Pokémon Black & White was amongst the list of games which did not meet player’s expectations, this could be a good enough reason.

“Remakes made for Black and White onwards should have a lot more love and care put into them. I hope that they become good games that will allow people to enjoy eras different from the Legends series.”

Black & White Remain Firm Fan Favorites

Unfortunately, it may be the love for Pokémon Black & White that could halt a potential remake, as fans are worried that it may not live up to the original 2010 release. As such, many recently took to r/pokemon to share their thoughts after one user claimed that “we are definitely getting Pokémon Black & White remakes next generation.

For one user, this potential remake will be enough incentive to try them out for the first time. “I hope so!” They eagerly shared. “Let the Black and White remakes come out. I played the third and fourth generation, and I was left wanting to play Black and White!” Additionally, it seems as though a fellow Reddit user thinks the same, adding, “Black and White were my first Pokémon games. I seriously hope they get remade. As well as Sun and Moon because I didn’t get to play any them.”

However, over on r/pokemonmemes, fans were feeling less hopeful. “Nuh uh. I do not want them to make the most beautiful games in the franchise into 3D, they’ll f**k it up,” one user admitted. “I refuse to accept them changing the graphics in Black & White, and if they remake them but don’t change the graphics, then why remake them?”

It is a fair question and one which we do not yet have the answers to. However, with this potential Pokémon Black & White remake not even having been officially confirmed, it remains to be seen if it will even happen at all.
