As Pokémon fans rejoice at the re-release of the classic Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen, Nintendo has quietly removed a much anticipated feature. Previously, the games’ descriptions everywhere stated that they would have Pokémon Home support.
Now, the games’ description no longer mentions Pokémon Home at all. Reddit user mymidimelody spotted the removal of Pokémon Home support in both the eShop and website description. The quiet removal has left fans divided on the fate of the games’ inclusion in the Home family.
Pokémon Home Support Is Coming
The Feature Hasn’t Been Completely Removed
Pokémon Home is a central hub for Pokémon fans. The program lets players link various games and transfer Pokémon between titles. Having Home support would let fans bring their favorite companions from across the Pokémon franchise to the classic titles, and vice versa.
Removing mention of Pokémon Home has left some fans angry. The fact that Home is no longer promised at launch doesn’t mean it’s not coming at a later date. But many fans feel upset that something that’s been in the works for, presumably, a very long time doesn’t have this basic feature.
“Pokémon Home was legitimately the only reason I was defending the $20 price,” writes Reddit user Tippydaug. “If they don’t intend to add that, this is overpriced for something that should’ve just been a [Nintendo Switch Online] game.“
It Might Take A While Before Pokémon Home Support Is Added
Pokémon Z-A Still Doesn’t Have Home Access
For many fans, it’s worrying that Nintendo included mention of Pokémon Home in the description of the upcoming classic title releases, only to remove any mention of Home.
It may be a sign of poor communication between the teams that handle different aspects of the Pokémon franchise. Some fans believe the Home mention was a way to justify to fans the high price point of FireRed and LeafGreen. Still others think that Nintendo got a little ahead of itself and accidentally announced something it simply wasn’t ready to announce.
Whatever the case may be, not having Pokémon Home support at launch isn’t that unusual for Pokémon titles. In fact, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which launched in October 2025, still isn’t included in the Home family. But most games do get added to Pokémon Home eventually.
While it’s highly likely that Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen will receive Home support at some later date, fans may have to wait a while before this happens.
