Authorities are seeking information related to the hit-and-run incident that killed former Nest Seekers agent Sara Burack.
Burack died on Thursday after the incident in the Hampton Bays area of Southampton. She was 40 years old.
The broker, who was featured in Netflix’s “Million Dollar Beach House,” was struck by a car outside of a restaurant on Montauk Highway in the early hours of June 19, local outlet Dan’s Papers reported.
A 911 caller alerted authorities to the incident at around 2:45 a.m. She was taken to the Stony Brook University Hospital, where she died from her injuries later that afternoon.
Police are still investigating the hit-and-run and have not yet released any details about the driver or vehicle involved.
“I’m hopeful the person who did this will be found,” said Paulette Corsair, a Nest Seekers agent and friend of Burack and her family. “This person, whoever it is, just snuffed her out.”
Corsair said she met Burack through mutual friends more than a decade ago before the two started working together at Nest Seekers’ office in Southampton.
“She was just so greatly loved,” Corsair said. “She was an asset to the community. She cared about people, that was her thing. We’re really going to miss her.”
Corsair, who said she was the first to arrive at the hospital and was with Burack in her final moments, described her as the “hardest worker” who was a “true real estate person.” She added that Burack was both “all about business” and “always laughing.”
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Sara Burack,” a spokesperson for Nest Seekers wrote in a statement. “Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time. We echo the call for justice and urge anyone with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.”
Burack departed Nest Seekers last year after more than a decade with the firm, where she worked as an agent in New York City and the Hamptons, according to her LinkedIn. She was also licensed in Florida, according to Corsair.
During her time at Nest Seekers, Burack was featured on Netflix’s “Million Dollar Beach House,” a six-episode series that debuted in 2020 and which followed some of the firm’s agents as they attempted to sell luxury properties in the Hamptons.
Burack also volunteered with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Southampton Animal Shelter. She also worked with New York City’s chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
