President Claudia Sheinbaum assured that Mexico closed 2024 with good macroeconomic indicators and higher tax collection, as well as a reduction in poverty and unemployment, coupled with higher salaries.
He affirmed that for the following years the commercial relationship with North America will continue because it has been beneficial for the three countries in the region.
“We closed 2024 with good indicators: historic international reserves of the Bank of Mexico, a reduction in poverty of 9.5 million people, at least, until 2023 and we know that when the 2024 data are incorporated we will have a reduction older,” Sheinbaum said.
“A low level of unemployment, compared to the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a minimum wage that has increased year after year and we want it to continue increasing to improve the living conditions of all Mexicans, a average monthly salary from the IMSS, which is historic,” he added.

Sheinbaum added that in 2024, historic levels of formal employment were recorded, and accumulated tax collection without increasing taxes and historic, since between 2023 and 2024 it increased in real terms 4.5%, “for being paid well and for having honest management of resources.” .
Sheinbaum also asserted that Mexico went from being the 15th economy in the world to the 12th in 2018, in addition to the fact that the country is the main trading partner of the United States, surpassing China and Canada.
“And we know that this is going to continue happening, that the trade agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA) is going to be maintained because it has proven to be one of the best trade agreements in history,” he noted.
(The USMCA) “has benefited the three countries, Canada, the United States, and Mexico; “It has benefited in terms of employment, it has benefited in terms of economic growth, it has benefited in terms of growth of regional markets and, furthermore, it is the only way in which we can compete with Asian countries, in particular with China,” said Sheinbaum.
