Preston Hollow Neoclassical Spec Mansion Sells, Asking $23M

Yet another ultra-luxury mansion sold in Dallas, leading to roughly $70 million in sales dollar volume within 10 square miles in the past two weeks.

The Sharif Family Revocable Trust, organized by local entrepreneurs Sardar and Rida Sharif, sold their six-bedroom, eight-bathroom Preston Hollow spec mansion at 1 Dorset Place on Monday to a trust owned by Tu and Alex Dao, CEO and president of Orthomed Anesthesia, according to public records.

The final sale price is unavailable, but at the time of the sale, the home was asking $23 million. Even if the Sharifs accepted a discount — which would match recent Texas ultra-luxury trends — they likely made a tidy profit. They bought the land in 2022 when it was asking $2.8 million, according to Zillow and Redfin.

The sellers asked about $1,500 per square foot for the 15,700-square-foot home on an acre lot. Built this year, the home has a neoclassical style with a symmetrical design and a cut stone veneer. Less antiquarian is the property’s 15-car garage. Jonathan Rosen with Compass Real Estate had the listing.

The Dorset Place property listed in October with a slew of other ultra-luxury homes, mostly concentrated in Dallas. A house on Hunters Glen Road asking $26 million narrowly surpassed it as the most expensive new home for sale in the state. Larry Lacerte’s home in Highland Park and a castle in Houston stole the show that month with listing prices of $35 million and $60 million, respectively.

While Texas sellers have hung some big price tags this year, some of the state’s top luxury deals closed well below the asking prices. Aerospace manufacturing mogul Guinn Crousen listed his Highland Park mansion for $32.5 million and sold it for $25.5 million. Soon afterwards, the late Fortress CEO Josh Pack’s University Park home sold for $30.5 million after asking $35 million.

Both of these deals took place within the last two weeks, and both are just miles away from the Daos’ new home.

Rosen did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Texas law does not require the disclosure of final sale prices.

Sardar Sharif bought a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home at 10260 Strait Lane in September, according to public records, apparently in an off-market deal.
