The former Governor of Tamaulipas, Manuel Cavazos Lerma, was removed from a position inside the PRI, after declared that the half sister of Deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco “is not very violable.”

This Monday Cavazos Lerma came out in defense of the legislator of Morena and former soccer player, accused by his half-sister Nidia Fabiola of rape in a tentative degree-, but he did it by means of a misogynist statement against the complainant.

“Cuauhtémoc has already been judged, they already shot him, they already hung it, it is already guilty. But in a democratic country, they are all innocent until they prove otherwise, then Cuauhtémoc first have to prove him because he tried to violate the sister, who is not very violable to say,” said Cavazos Lerma in an act of their party.

After that comment, the PRI national leader, Alejandro Moreno, announced that he had decided to remove Cavazos Lerma from his position as secretary of political operation, a position in which he had been just over two months, according to the Quadratín news agency.

“The statements made by former governor Manuel Cavazos Lerma are unacceptable and do not represent the values of the PRI or the project we are building for Mexico,” he said on Network X.

“For that reason, I have made the decision to remove it from its responsibility within the party. This determination responds to the commitment we have with a responsible policy, and the height of the people of Mexico,” he added.

Moreno said that instead of Cavazos Lerma had appointed Alejandra Andrade as the new secretary of political operation, “a talented young woman, with experience, capacity and firm commitment.”

“In the @Pri_national we firmly support women. We know that respect is not optional, it is a fundamental principle to exercise public service. Our country needs a serious policy, with vision, and with deep human sense,” he said.

Cuauhtémoc Blanco, a symbol of Club América and the Mexican National Team, was accused in 2024 of attempted rape by its half -sister Nidia Fabiola, who since then has denounced before media to be subject to threats for having raised her voice.

On Tuesday, with 291 votes in favor, 158 against and 12 abstentions, legislators approved the opinion presented by Morena to reject the request to withdraw the jurisdiction presented by the Morelos Prosecutor’s Office.
Among the votes that rejected the aforementioned request, those of PRI legislators were also added.

On Saturday, feminist groups protested in Mexico City against the opinion of the Chamber of Deputies that rejected the lawlessness of Cuauhtémoc Blanco.
