Dozens of protesters broke into the offices of the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, this Thursday to demand his resignation in the face of the insecurity that Culiacán is experiencing due to the drug trafficking struggle and the recent murder of two children and their father.

According to videos published on social networks, several protesters arrived at the Government Palace, where they broke the windows of the building and tried to enter by force while shouting phrases such as “Out with Rocha!”, “Narcogovernment!” and “We want peace!”

The protesters were part of a march organized by civil society to demand justice for the brothers Gael and Alexander, aged 9 and 12 respectively, murdered along with their father on Sunday, January 19 in an attempted robbery.

The people demanded attention from the governor of Morena, who was not in his offices, so they enraged broke walls and destroyed property, without any authority trying to stop them.

The protesters, dressed in white, demanded justice in the brothers’ case, as well as the dismissal of Rocha Moya, who has been accused of having ties to organized crime.

They also demanded that the wave of violence that afflicts the state be addressed, which has accumulated more than 600 murders since the struggle that broke out on September 9 after the arrest last July in the United States of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López , son of Chapo Guzmán.

From September to December 2024, the internal struggle between Los Mayos and the Los Chapitos faction escalated, causing an increase in the murders recorded in Sinaloa, which had nearly 900 homicides in all of 2024.

In addition to the murders, clashes, kidnappings, and disappearances escalated particularly in September, which has paralyzed economic and social activities on several occasions, causing the closure of companies and non-attendance at educational centers.
