Hundreds of autonomped “anarchist” embozados led the violent actions, including attacks on the police, in the Zocalo of Mexico City, to overshadow the commemorative rally for the 57th anniversary of the Tlatelolco Student Massacre of October 2, 1968.

With the protest, just started at 4:00 p.m. in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco to the Zocalo, the largest square in Mexico, the riots started with graffiti, looting in department stores, of which food, paint boats, aerosols and objects that were subsequently used to violate the police authority and even journalists and their work teams were extracted.

In the Zocalo the protest was divided into two groups: the protesters who wanted to carry out the protest in a peaceful way and the so -called black or “anarchist block”, who threw stones, firecrackers, molotov bombs and paint buckets to the government of the Government of Mexico City and the Secretariat of Citizen Security.

The vandals, which faced the authorities for about ninety minutes, used homemade flamethrowers, which caused external damage to the uniforms of police officers surrounding department stores, as well as jewelry stores, to avoid looting and painted to the buildings of the historic center of the capital.

The police responded to the aggressions with chemist from extinguishers, although many were stripped of their shields and helmets by the anarchists, who also tried to burn them and attack them with stones and hammers.

The march had the surveillance of the personnel of the Secretariat of Government and the Human Rights Commission, both in Mexico City, who did not report on the number of injuries or deaths.

However, national media have registered two injured, passed out and with seizures, as well as police with serious burn and blows and head injuries.

Dozens of departmental stores on Ricardo Flores Magón Avenue, central axis and May 5 have been affected by looting, pints or the total dismantling of the facilities.

This clash between hooded anarchists and the police are considered one of the most violent events in recent years in Mexico City, which is part of the anniversary of the Tlatelolco Student Massacre of October 2, 1968, where more than three hundred students and other missing hundreds were killed, according to civil organizations, although the authorities only reported 37.

Last year, in the early days of the Sheinbaum administration, the State admitted political responsibility for repression of the 1968 student movement, offering a public apology to victims and relatives, and committing to guarantee that acts of repression, forced disappearances, torture, nor the use of armed forces against the population against the population are not repeated

Support to Gaza joins march

In addition to the commemoration of the Tlatelolco massacre and the social complaint about the disappearance of the 43 students of the Ayotzinapa Rural School in September 2014, the songs and screams were focused on the Palestinian cause and the armed conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group.

“In 68 there was a great demand regarding the Vietnam War, student movements for humanitarian causes have always been linked to protests in cons of the killings and genocides (…) there is a global humanitarian crisis, first it was in Mexico and, unfortunately, now it is in Palestine,” said Eric Romulo, one of the protesters who attended the call with a Palestinian flag.

Together with Romulo, several hundred people claimed that Israeli military forces leave the Palestinian land, that a humanitarian corridor is opened to ensure the well -being of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, and that the Mexican government breaks ties with Israel and “positions itself in front of the genocide.”
