The World Athletics (International Athletics Federation) ratified ignorance against the former president of the Mexican Federation of Athletics Associations (FMAA), by officially publishing in its digital portal the sanction against Antonio Lozano Pineda and its Administrative Council, in accordance With Xpectrofm information.
During the last council of the World Athletics held between March 24 and 25, 2025 in Nanjing, China, the agency did not know and sanctioned Antonio Lozano along with his administrative council.
The sanction was not applying the constitution of the FMAA in relation to the eligibility of its president, after the Mexican authorities determined that the assembly in which Pineda Lozano proclaimed president was illegal.
The sanctions approved in the Council were the following:
- Events of the World Athletics Series will not be held.
- The officials of the Member Federations, including the members of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Federation Member, will not be invited or will be provided with accreditation for any event of the World Athletics Series or for any other World Athletics event in the predictable future.
- The Mexican Federation Member will not have the right to attend, speak or vote at Congress meetings.
- When the Mexican Member Federation is eligible, subsidies or subsidies that the Mexican Federation Member may request or receive will be suspended.
- The participation of the officials of the Member Federations is prohibited, including the members of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Federation Member, in any Development or Professional Program of World Athletics.
Antonio Lozano and his Council received the last chance from the International Federation to present evidence of its legitimacy as president of the FMAA, until this April 16.
In this Thursday’s publication on the official portal of the World Athletics, it was reported that on the recommendation of the Governance Commission, the Council decided to sanction the FMAA and Antonio Lozano for not presenting the requested information.
In this way, the decision of the World Athletics is firm and no suspension is made to the sanctions made the Council of last March 24 and 25, so the punishment against Lozano Pineda and its advice becomes effective at the time.
“On the recommendation of the Governance Commission, the Council decided to sanction the Mexican Federation Member in accordance with rule 11 of the Member Federations Regulation and article 13 of the Constitution of World Athletics, due to its breach of the Constitution and the statutory procedures in relation to the eligibility of its President. The Council determined that the Federation breaches the following:
“Rule 6.3.2 of the rules of the Member Federation, for not providing the requested information; and articles 9.1 and 17 of the Constitution, for not applying its own Constitution regarding the eligibility of its president,” said the publication in the official portal of the World Athletics.
After the announcement of the sanctions issued by the International Federation last week, Antonio Lozano Pineda said that the resolution was false and that there was no such, highlighting that he was still firm in front of the FMAA.
With the publication on the official portal of the International Federation, anyone can enter to see it in the League: https://worldathletics.org/about-iaaf/documents/council, looking for the decisions of 237th Council Meeting 24/25 March 2025, Nanjing (CHN).
