Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that Iran, a country with which he signed in January a strategic association agreement, has not requested help from Russia to counteract Israel’s attacks against its military and nuclear facilities.
“Iran has not addressed us with another kind of support,” Putin said during an informative meeting with representatives of the main world news agencies, including Efe, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Forum.
At the same time, he stressed that Russia is in permanent contact with Iranian leaders about the situation in the Islamic Republic.

He recalled that 250 Russian specialists are currently at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which was built near the Persian Gulf by Russia after the project was abandoned by Germany.
“We have not left. Is that not support?” He said and added that the Kremlin agreed with Israel that will guarantee the safety of Russian engineers and operators.
In addition, he stressed that at the time Moscow offered Tehran to work together in the development of anti -aircraft defense systems, but, he added, “the partners did not show great interest.”
Of course, Putin admitted that Russia supplied Iran Heavy Armament in the past in line with international standards, which did not stop irritating Israel.
However, he stressed that the strategic association agreement signed at the beginning of the year with Iranian leader, Peseshkian Masud does not include issues related to defense.
Similar document signed a year ago with North Korea does include a military assistance clause in case of external aggression.
Putin Tacha of ‘Nounría’ that Russia plans to attack an NATO country
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, today called the alleged Kremlin plans to attack a NATO member country.
“We all understand that this is nonsense (…) NATO’s military budget is 1.3 billion dollars, more than everyone together, including Russia,” Putin said during an informative meeting with representatives of the main world news agencies, including EFE, within the framework of the International Forum of St. Petersburg.
The Russian leader also said that NATO Rearme plans are a “nonsense”, since the increase in defense expenditure of its member countries will not represent a threat to Russia.
“We do not consider NATO rearmament, whatever, a threat to Russia. And we are self -sufficient when guaranteeing our security,” Putin said.
Putin is willing to meet with Zelenski only at the end of peace negotiations
The Russian also said he is willing to meet with the Ukrainian leader, Volodimir Zelenski, but only in the final phase of the peace negotiations.
“We also want to end this (with the conflict) as soon as possible. And better if it is by peaceful means,” Putin said during an informative meeting with representatives of the main world news agencies, including EFE, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Forum.
Putin said he will not have problems meeting with Zelenski, if the Ukrainian state commissioned him to lead the negotiations, but he questioned his legitimacy as head of state, once his mandate, according to Russia, expired in May 2024.
“The problem is who will sign the documents,” he said.
He also admitted that he decided to reject Zelenski’s proposal to meet with him in mid -May in Istanbul due to the absence of the US president Donald Trump.
Putin recalled that in 2022 Russia was willing to allow Ukraine to preserve the control of the southern regions of Jersón and Zaporiyia, in exchange for the laying of a land corridor to the annexed Crimean Peninsula.
Now, on the other hand, he highlighted, those two regions and the popular republics of Donetsk and Lugansk are everywhere inalienable in the territory of the Russian Federation.
In addition, he stressed that Moscow will not allow Ukraine to have an army that threatens the security of its territory.
“We are willing to establish substantial negotiations about the principles of arrangement. Only the Ukrainian part also has to be prepared,” he said.
He also called Western allies not to urge kyiv to continue fighting “to the last Ukrainian” and, in this regard, he stressed that Trump wants to “honestly” achieve an arrangement to the conflict.
However, the Chief of Kremlin said that Moscow is willing to continue after June 22 the negotiations with kyiv on humanitarian matters, such as the exchange of prisoners of war.
“These negotiations make sense,” he said.
